Before being turned into flour, grain goes through numerous stages of cleaning and sorting. After forming a milling batch at the elevator and receiving the designated cereal crop at the milling complex, the grain undergoes several stages of cleaning and sorting. One of the cleaning stages is removing dust and dirt from the surface of cereal seeds, especially from the awn and groove. Also, removing damaged seeds from the total mass and partial antibacterial decontamination of the selected grain batch intended for processing into flour. There is an effective method to do this with minimal costs and without significant damage to the grain, and more details about it will be provided below.

Gentle removal of dust and dirt from cereal seeds
There are several ways to clean the surface of cereal seeds from contamination. For example, you can clean grain using a wet method in a washing machine. This method is quite effective but also very energy-intensive, as it consumes a large amount of drinking water — 2 liters per 1 kg of grain. Much more practical and cost-effective is to clean grain from dust and dirt using a dry method, but there are also several options, namely:
- cleaning grain from contamination using brush machines;
- removal of dirt and dust from the surface of seeds of various cereal crops using cleaning aggregates with a metal working surface;
- cleaning cereal seeds using cleaning mechanisms with abrasive casing;
- treatment of the upper layer of grain using a cleaning machine with a working surface in the form of a metal mesh.
In the first two options, grain is cleaned from dust and dirt, but slowly and not sufficiently thoroughly, yet the seed texture remains intact. The third option with a cleaning aggregate with an abrasive working surface effectively removes dust and dirt from the upper layer of grain, but this increases the percentage of damaged seeds. The most optimal option for dry removal of contamination from the surface of cereal seeds is a cleaning machine for grain with a mesh casing. The working surface of this machine is made of special metal mesh material. In such a machine, grain is cleaned quite effectively, and the percentage of waste does not exceed established norms.
High-quality cleaning machines at manufacturer prices
You can purchase a cleaning aggregate at a good price that can thoroughly clean grain from dust and dirt, yet will not damage the seed structure, from the company "Melinvest," which has a 150-year impeccable reputation as a manufacturer of high-quality grain processing equipment. Cleaning machines BOS produced by AO "Melinvest" are capable of cleaning grain from harmful impurities and dirt at a rate of no less than six tons per hour. Moreover, the energy consumption for performing this technological operation will be relatively low, as the BOS cleaning aggregate is equipped with an energy-efficient power unit with a power of 7.5 kW.
