In various sectors of agriculture, a wide range of specialized fasteners is used as threaded fasteners. Agriculture is no exception in this regard. The use of modern agricultural machinery and power-intensive tractors requires increased reliability and service life of attached equipment. It is also necessary to consider that most agricultural machinery operates under fairly harsh conditions. This is especially true for tillage machines — plows, disc harrows, cultivators. The cutting working parts of these machines are subjected to significant mechanical and abrasive wear from the soil. Based on this, special requirements are placed on threaded fasteners for these machines, especially on elements subjected to the greatest loads. If we consider the entire range of such elements, the cutting parts of plows experience the greatest loads. Such a working part is called the plowshare. Special bolts of special design are used to secure the plowshare to the plow's shank, which must not protrude beyond the plane of the plowshare and other plow elements that come into contact with the soil during operation. If this condition is not met, the resistance to plow movement will significantly increase, and the fastener will wear out quickly. In view of this, plowshare bolts have been developed, standardized, and are produced, used not only in plow components but also in similar-purpose parts.
The construction of a plowshare bolt consists of a rod with incomplete threading, a recessed head, and a square washer.
Bolts of this type can be manufactured in various sizes. The maximum size is the product with a thread diameter of 20 mm and an overall length of 200 mm. The minimum size is the product with a thread diameter of 5 mm and a length of 20 mm. The recessed head diameter can range from 9 to 35 mm. According to strength class, plowshare bolts can be manufactured up to class 8.8. Items of this strength class can be used for heavily loaded parts.
Plowshare bolts are primarily manufactured from carbon steel with a zinc coating. However, upon agreement with the customer, other types of coating or even stainless steel may be used.
The fleet of agricultural machinery is constantly growing, therefore the demand for plowshare bolts is quite substantial. Hardware manufacturers today produce these items in all sizes specified by the standard. You can primarily purchase this type of bolt from official dealers of the manufacturers.
