Columnar Pear

If you have a dream of growing your own garden, but your plot is quite small, columnar fruit trees will be ideal for you. They have many advantages, and their cost can be recouped already by the third year of growth.

Today, almost all fruit trees are available in columnar types. Columnar pear — this is a very beautiful tree that will reward you with a harvest of juicy and aromatic fruits. The main thing — provide proper care for the plant.

Tips for growing columnar pear

Columnar pear is a find for those who have a very small plot of land. Like other similar plants, it grows only upward, hardly producing lateral branches. Therefore, they can be planted densely, they do not cast much shade, and thus will not harm the growth of other plants.

Moreover, such a pear is a decoration for any garden. It is very small, beautifully blooms, and the fruits will closely cling to the trunk. And harvesting the crop — pure pleasure. You don't need to use a ladder or climb up the tree — its size allows a person to pick the fruits without additional tools.

The only drawback of columnar pear is its short fruiting period. It will last about 10-15 years. Also, the price of such plants is not the lowest, but it will be recouped in just a few years. Even years later, you can leave it as a decorative plant.

You can get the first harvest already after one year of planting. The fruits are always large, juicy, and sweet. There are different varieties — some bear fruit in summer, others closer to winter. From one tree, you can get 3 to 8 kg of fruit.

Columnar pears are not demanding of soil and quickly adapt. Another advantage — high yield. The fruits are very versatile. You can consume them fresh, enriching your body with beneficial vitamins, or make jam, compote, add them to baked goods and desserts.

There are many different varieties of columnar pears. They differ in fruit size and taste, as well as ripening times. There are very sweet varieties, as well as slightly tart ones — it all depends only on your preferences.

Popular varieties include:

● Deka — mid-season variety, fruits ripen by August;

● Saphira. You will get the fruits in autumn;

● Honey. This variety is distinguished by very large fruits.

As you can see, there is plenty to choose from. Many gardeners have already appreciated such columnar pears.
