Poultry Feed
The productivity of agricultural poultry, genetically predetermined, manifests only through balanced feeding. In intensive livestock farming, nutrition receives great attention. The feed base must meet the needs of poultry for nutrients and other substances. For this, it is necessary for elements to enter the organism in optimal quantities and proportions.
Proper nutrition is provided by ready-made poultry feed. Mixes are created taking into account physiology and modern biochemistry. In mixes there are components of animal and plant origin. Feed is enriched with vitamins, macro- and microelements, enzymes. Mixes represent a ready-made homogeneous mass in loose, granulated and briquetted forms.
Main Components of Poultry Feed
To be suitable for raising broilers, feed mixtures must have the right composition. For recently hatched chicks, "starter" feed is used, for young birds - "grower", for adult hens and turkeys - "finisher". Mixes differ in composition, consistency, presence and types of additives. The main components of poultry feed are approximately the following:
- grains with high carbohydrate content (barley, wheat, proso, oats, corn);
- soybean, sunflower, and flaxseed meals;
- legumes (beans, peas, lentils, soy, lupin);
- oilseed crops (sunflower, rapeseed, colza, etc.);
- grass with high fiber content;
- food industry by-products;
- minerals, amino acids, vitamins.
Some manufacturers add biostimulants and antibiotics to poultry feed. This is not always welcomed by farmers and is very disliked by end consumers of meat products.
Poultry feed mixtures without antibiotics, GMO additives and other harmful components are offered for purchase on the website http://korm07.ru/produkciya/kombikorm-dlya-ptits/. The manufacturer selects nutrient ingredients based on their chemical composition so that they complement each other and are well digested by poultry.
Quality, balanced poultry feed is the foundation of profitable poultry farming.
Features of Feed for Different Types of Poultry
When manufacturing poultry feed, it is important to consider not only the age of the birds, but also the biology of each species. For example, for laying hens, the balance of vitamins and amino acids is important, but the mineral composition is equally important. Laying hens must eat food with high calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and sodium content. Deficiency of these minerals leads to egg breaking and reduced productivity.
Broilers are fed differently depending on age. If, at the beginning of their life cycle, chicks are given 50% corn, 16% wheat and 8% barley, then at the end, corn becomes 45%, wheat 13%, barley 8%. As they age, the amount of soybean meal and meal in the feed increases, yeast, fish and meat-bone meal appear.
