The Week of the Agricultural Workers' Holiday Was Marked by a High Harvest

At the official gathering, preliminary results of the agricultural season this year were summarized. According to the First Deputy Minister, the sector achieved good results: more than 66 million tons of grain were collected, and this is not yet the limit. Records were set for corn, soybean, and sunflower collection. Grain production reaches an unprecedented result—over all years of independence, Ukraine has achieved the highest harvest, and Ukrainian producers deserve congratulations on their professional holiday.

This result, on the one hand, allows us to be proud of the achievements of Ukrainian farmers, and on the other hand, requires addressing a number of pressing issues: logistics and storage, expanding foreign markets for Ukrainian products, increasing export volumes, etc.

Noting the growth in labor productivity in agriculture, Maxim Martyniuk emphasized the need to maintain and stimulate this trend in the following year. He noted that the government will preserve the scale of the state support system. At the same time, its obvious shortcomings will be taken into account to enable as many small and medium-sized agricultural producers as possible to benefit from budgetary subsidy programs.

The government has already taken steps this year to simplify the process of obtaining state support for new farmers. Thus, according to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers dated October 24, 2018, No. 911, changes have been introduced to the provision of financial support to farmers. Newly created farming enterprises will receive a one-time budgetary subsidy of 3 thousand hryvnias per 1 hectare, and each member of the enterprise—5.5 minimum living wages.

Wishing all agricultural workers a happy professional holiday, First Deputy Minister expressed sincere hopes to conclude this year with high quantitative and financial indicators. Moreover, he hopes that in the next season, a greater volume of investment will be directed toward the processing industry to produce products with added value. This should inevitably lead to positive transformations in the industry and improve the quality of life for agricultural workers.
