As of 2021, farming in Russia is gaining momentum. More and more products are entering stores from small producers. Over time, such producers may expand and reach the level of medium-sized businesses. In this case, they purchase grain seeds wholesale, plant them, and then offer their products on the market.
Consumer Reaction
Consumers generally have a favorable attitude toward such products. Especially after the emergence and spread of digital technologies, the position of small-scale agricultural producers has improved. If you need a product farmers' platform, the internet easily offers a suitable option.
Among the advantages noted by consumers, the following stand out:
1. Naturalness. It is no secret that large companies reduce production costs by offering customers products that are not always natural. Some customers are willing to compromise on this, while others are not. The latter group of customers chooses natural farm products. An additional incentive is the modern trend toward eco-friendliness.
2. Unique products. Large companies usually produce only what large masses of customers are willing to buy. Unfortunately, the most popular product is not necessarily the best by any single criterion. If a customer is oriented toward obtaining tasty, healthy, and unique products, they turn to a farmer’s shop.
We could list more advantages. However, despite all these advantages, there are objective factors that hinder the development of farming in Russia.
Pandemic and Global Crisis
Russians are experiencing reduced incomes due to the pandemic and global crisis. Thus, there are fewer discretionary funds available to spend on farm products. Consequently, farmers are currently facing difficulties in sales.
This statement is partially true, but only partially. The problem exists, but it is not a problem inherent to farming per se, but rather an overall economic situation. Therefore, after the crisis is resolved, the problem of insufficient purchasing power will automatically be resolved.
At present, farming contributes a significant share to agricultural production. This cannot be hindered by reduced purchasing power or any other factors. Experts predict that farming in Russia will continue to develop in the future, relying on recent digitalization achievements.
It should be noted that these achievements can be easily utilized by both small businesses and large companies. In this regard, small businesses even have more advantages over large ones, considering their mobility, speed of restructuring production chains, and search for new sales channels.
