Expansion of the insecticide line from Bayer
One of the main causes of losses and reduction in agricultural product quality are pests. To a greater extent, this niche is occupied by insects, and crops often require protection against mites, nematodes and other harmful organisms. Unique developments from the company Bayer have enabled the creation of an insecticide- acaricide Movento Energy, with an innovative mode of action. Movento Energy has a dual systemic distribution (transported via xylem and phloem), which allows effectively combating a wide spectrum of sucking and chewing insects, including hidden pests such as root aphids. The preparation also controls the activity of nematodes and mites. Dual transport and prolonged period of active action (up to 30 days) allows protecting young shoots and roots of plants.
Test results of the insecticide 'Movento Energy'
Movento Energy is successfully used on fruit crops such as apple and pear. To combat leafrollers, scale insects and aphids, a double application is carried out during the season (in the phases: 'green cone' and 'hazelnut'). In the course of tests conducted by the All-Russian Research Institute for Plant Protection, significant suppression of the activity of the California scale insect of the 1st-2nd generation was observed. At the application rate of 0.6 l/ha, the biological activity of Movento Energy reaches 65.9% on the 7th day and 79% on the 14th day. When applied against pear scale, the preparation shows higher activity compared to the standard scheme. Maximum effectiveness was achieved at a concentration of 0.6 l/ha and reached 98.2% on the 7th day after application. Also, a reduction in fruit damage down to 88.6% was observed.
In a number of experiments conducted by VIZR on grapes, the high biological effectiveness of the preparation (up to 90%) against grape leafroller (Southern Dagestan) was shown. In tests of Movento Energy on grapes in the Krasnodar Krai, a significant reduction in phylloxera gall formation was observed (down to 80.6% by the end of vegetation). To ensure maximum protection against grape leafroller and phylloxera, spraying should be carried out twice per season in the phases 'blossom opening' and 'small pea'. The effectiveness of treatments can be increased by rotating with Calypso and Decis Expert.
In experiments on black currant, conducted at the basis of Saint Petersburg State Agrarian University and VIZR, Movento Energy, CS showed high activity against leafrollers. At a dosage of 0.6 l/ha, it reached from 96.9% to 100%.
This insecticide also has registration for a number of vegetable crops: potato, onion, cabbage, as well as cucumber and tomato in protected ground, and allows protecting them from Colorado potato beetle, cabbage aphid, greenhouse whitefly and thrips. Thus, tests of Movento Energy in the Republic of Belarus allowed reducing the potential pestiness of cabbage moth and increasing the yield of heads to 49.1–55.4 t/ha depending on the dosage of the preparation (0.4–0.8 l/ha). High biological activity was also observed against larval stages and adult stages of tobacco thrips.
The insecticide Movento Energy shows excellent results when used on onions against thrips, aphids, onion moth and mining fly. Data for various ecological conditions were obtained in VIZR studies. When applied against onion moth, the biological effectiveness amounted to 85.8% when applied through the drip irrigation system and from 88.7 to 95.6% when sprayed. Against thrips, spraying gave results from 99.8 to 100%, drip irrigation — 93.5%.
Mode of action
Today, Movento Energy is the only insecticide capable of being transported via phloem, thanks to its unique composition. The preparation is produced as a concentrate suspension and contains two active substances — imidacloprid and spirodiclofen, belonging to different chemical classes. Imidacloprid is a widely used systemic insecticide with contact-intestinal action and belongs to the class of chloronicotinoids. Spirodiclofen represents a new chemical class — tetronic acids (ketoenols). This substance blocks lipid synthesis, disrupting normal insect growth and development, and also possesses ovicidal and transovarial activity.
