In order for the final result to please the eye, it is necessary to carefully plan the construction down to the smallest details and develop a project. If all the drawings are properly prepared, then all upcoming expenses will be known in advance, and the construction material will be purchased in the required quantity. First, it is necessary to determine the type of sauna:
- Dry — the humidity in the steam room does not exceed 25%, and the temperature — 120 °C;
- Wet — the most popular variant in Russia. Humidity — 100%, temperature — 50-90 °C;
- Steam — presence of a large amount of water vapor, similar to Turkish saunas.
Main Components
Changing room (vestibule). Here you can leave your belongings, store brooms, firewood and other sauna accessories. Also, the stove, which provides the steam room with the necessary temperature, exits into the vestibule.
Steam room. This is the main part and "heart" of the building. In the room, benches for lying and sitting are installed, and it is recommended to place stones in the corner to help maintain steam. The temperature in the steam room should always be higher than in other rooms.
Washroom. In saunas, it is common to install a sewer system and place a shower in a separate room next to the steam room. If the building's size does not allow, these two rooms can be combined.
Resting room. Here it is necessary to use imagination and recreate a place where it will be pleasant to relax after the steaming procedure. If you put effort into the interior design, place chairs or a table with chairs, and decorate the space with accessories, visitors will find maximum comfort in this place.
Materials
Saunas are usually built from wood, as this material is environmentally friendly, inexpensive, and the most accessible. However, it is also possible to use aerated concrete blocks or brickwork. The foundation is preferably made of reinforced concrete, the roof — covered with profiled sheet or tiles, and the inner walls — finished with stone, logs, beams, plywood, tiles, or bricks. The floor of the room is always covered with planks, which well absorb moisture and prevent slipping.
Building a sauna is a long and painstaking process, which in the end will bring great benefits to the builder and all future visitors. The total cost will depend on the size of the building, the materials used, and the internal equipment.
