Water purification systems for a private house: equipment and features
Water purification systems for a private home work with well and artesian water. Autonomous cleaning systems carry out disinfection and complete cleaning cycle of water from the local water supply.
The quality of drinking water in a private house does not always meet safety requirements - autonomous sources supplying the water supply contain many different impurities. Local purification systems help to protect water and give it useful properties.
Purpose of water purification systems
In a country cottage or on an allotment site, the only source of drinking water is often a private water supply system fed from an artesian well or a well. These sources are not a guarantee of safety, as they contain mineral inclusions, salts of heavy metals and organic pollutants. Effective water purification in private homes is helped by water treatment systems that work in two directions:
- purify water from impurities;
- destroy harmful microorganisms.
The filtration complex is integrated into the main pipe or attached under the sink. Centralized systems provide purification of all incoming water in the house, and flow-through systems are installed directly on the tap.
Equipment and principle of operation of the system
A standard household complex includes the following components:
- Bottom filter for mechanical removal of impurities. A fine-mesh screen retains silt, sand, large organic debris, protecting the pump from damage.
- Aerator (aeration column). A device for pressure aeration enriches water with oxygen, triggering a reaction of iron and manganese oxidation. The air flow also separates hydrogen sulfide, which gives the water a musty smell.
- Filter unit. Equipped with several filters that remove excess iron from the water (oxidation and filtration of sediment) and soften it by replacing calcium and magnesium ions with sodium ions.
- Biological barrier. UV filters or carbon cartridges destroy microorganisms dangerous to health without affecting the taste of water.
- Fine purification. The final stage of purification is performed by fine-mesh membrane filters filled with sorbents or polymer fillers.
A phased cleaning process allows you to remove all contaminants from water, while improving its properties and taste qualities.
Features of water treatment systems
There are two types of water purification systems for a private house:
- reagent-based systems, based on specialized oxidizing substances;
- non-reagent systems, from a network of specialized filter materials.
To maintain an uninterrupted cycle of purification, reagent systems require regular replacement of cartridges. After the complete cleaning cycle in a non-reagent complex, water can be drunk without boiling, not worrying about the health of even the smallest members of the family.
