Screw Conveyor: Technical Features

For transporting granular materials in the food, processing, and mining industries, various conveying devices are used, among which screw conveyors play a special role. These devices allow moving large volumes of material in a short time, and thanks to their ability to be installed at any angle up to 60 degrees, they can adapt to the specifics of any, even the largest silo or tank.

Main Features

Screw Conveyor — a device for transporting granular materials using special scrapers — small trays that move in a circular motion via chains. The driving force is provided by a motor installed inside the casing or on its outer side. This type of equipment is made from stainless, carbon, or galvanized steel. Such a device consists of:

• drive head;

• power unit — Motovario reducer;

• chain tension element;

• chains (single or double chains; in the first case, the chain is installed at the bottom center, and in the second — on the sides);

• hopper for material intake.

The motor starts the operation of the chains, which, rotating in a circular motion, move between the loading hopper and the discharge section. The trays grab the granular material and move it along the lower part.

The casing construction can be either open or closed; in the latter case, external contaminants are minimized, and the amount of dust the device may produce is reduced. In open casings, material acceptance occurs directly into the open part of the casing into special sections.
