Types of Glass for Agricultural Machinery
For agricultural machinery, triple-glazed glass is typically used, as it is resistant to damage, which is crucial for such operations. However, other types should also be distinguished, depending on the specific operational requirements of the machinery.
Glass for agricultural machinery is as essential as tires, transmission, engine, battery, and other vehicle components. Indeed, they ensure the driver's reliable safety and also protect the vehicle's interior from dust, dirt, and harmful gas infiltration. In addition, glass for specialized equipment guarantees the operator an optimal field of vision, which is the primary criterion in the operation of such machinery.
For specialized transport, the following types of glass are typically used: curved glass, which has been in use for a long time, and triple-glazed models — these items became widely used at the beginning of the 21st century. Today, both types are used in roughly equal volumes, explained by their different purposes and application characteristics. Curved glass is distinguished by complex manufacturing technology and has a lower degree of strength compared to triple-glazed samples. However, curved glass has several undeniable advantages — it significantly enhances visibility and does not require additional equipment for installation into the cab, as it fully adapts to its shape. This allows installing one piece of glass across the entire cab with a 360-degree field of view, which is quite convenient for the driver. Such items are better suited for situations where the risk of large debris entering the operator's cab is excluded, as these glasses are not designed to withstand heavy loads.
For this reason, glass for forklifts is most often used exclusively triple-glazed, designed to protect the operator from damage. This effect is possible due to the special construction of the item. This glass consists of several very thick panes, bonded together by a special polymer film, imparting maximum strength to the product. Additionally, in case of a strong impact, it does not allow the glass to break into small fragments. In most cases, a triple-glazed variant is used as the windshield on forklifts. Other glass pieces undergo an additional tempering process, resulting in them being bent to the required angle.
You can order glass for agricultural machinery from the manufacturer "Steklo-Lux".
