The ancestral species of this hybrid are native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. In their natural habitat, they are primarily epiphytes, adapted to survival on tree limbs and branches. Botanically, the plant is characterized by a dense, funnel-shaped rosette of rigid, often silver-scaled or banded leaves.
