The African daisy (Arctotis x hybrida hort.) is a prominent ornamental crop belonging to the Asteraceae family. While native to warmer regions, this plant is commonly cultivated as an annual in many agricultural zones worldwide. Originating from the arid regions of Southern Africa, the plant has evolved to thrive in harsh, sunny conditions. Its natural habitat is characterized by poor, well-draining soils and high light intensity, which dictates the environmental requirements for its successful cultivation in gardens and professional floral setups today.

Regarding plant protection, the main pests include aphids and spider mites, particularly in hot, dry weather. Cultural diseases, such as grey mold or powdery mildew, typically occur only when the crop is subjected to high humidity or excessive moisture, reinforcing the need for proper site selection and spacing.
