Originating from the central and southern regions of Brazil, the species is native to the cerrado and open savanna environments. It has evolved to thrive in nutrient-poor, sandy soils and is well-adapted to withstand both long periods of drought and the periodic natural fires typical of its habitat, making it a highly resilient botanical specimen.
The botanical structure is defined by stiff, silvery-green leaves that provide protection against intense sunlight. The inflorescences are distinct, spiral-shaped spikes that are often nestled low among the foliage.
