The plant originates from the tropical regions of Borneo, specifically thriving in limestone habitats. Its native environment provides the biological blueprint for its care requirements: it prefers warm, stable conditions with high humidity and bright, indirect light, mimicking the forest floor or sheltered rocky outcrops where it grows naturally in the wild.
Botanically, this species is defined by its stiff, thick, heart-shaped leaves and a fleshy corm that stores water. Unlike larger Alocasia species, the reginula maintains a modest size, rarely exceeding 25–30 cm in height.
