It is highly valued for its striking architectural appearance, resembling a miniature, multi-branched desert tree.
This species is native to the arid environments of South Africa and southern Namibia. It typically grows on rocky outcrops and in desert regions where water is scarce. Its evolutionary adaptations allow it to store significant amounts of water in its thick leaves, enabling it to survive prolonged droughts and intense thermal exposure in its natural habitat.
Botanically, the plant is characterized by its heavily branched stems that end in dense rosettes of fleshy, grey-green leaves.
