The western pasqueflower, scientifically known as Anemone occidentalis, belongs to the Ranunculaceae family. Botanically, the plant is characterized by a strong rootstock and deeply divided basal leaves. It is famous for its early spring blooms, often emerging directly through the melting snow. The flowers are large, cup-shaped, and usually white to creamy in color.
