Originating from the dense tropical rainforests of Central and South America, this species has evolved to thrive in high-humidity environments. In its native habitat, it grows primarily as an epiphyte, attaching itself to host trees, where it derives nutrients from decaying organic matter and moisture from the humid tropical air rather than from soil on the forest floor.
Botanically, it features elongated, lance-shaped leaves that are leathery to the touch. The main highlight is the inflorescence: the spadix is relatively slim, and after successful pollination, it produces numerous bright red, succulent-like fruits.
