Botanically, these are robust monopodial orchids with elongated stems and thick, leathery leaves. Their root system is notably vigorous, specialized for absorbing moisture directly from the atmosphere. The flowers are arranged in long, raceme-like inflorescences that can reach impressive sizes. A defining characteristic of the genus is its extended blooming period, ensuring long-lasting decorative value.
