Native to the tropical regions of Southeast Asia, specifically Malaysia, this species thrives in humid, warm environments. As an epiphyte, it naturally grows on forest trees, utilizing its robust root system to absorb moisture and nutrients from the humid air and decomposing organic matter trapped in bark crevices.

Botanically, Arachnis maingayi is characterized by a strong, elongated monopodial stem with thick, leathery leaves arranged in two distinct rows. The inflorescence consists of several long-lasting, fragrant blooms with striking patterns, which maintain their structural integrity for an extended period after harvest.

Successful cultivation requires specific environmental parameters, including high temperatures ranging from 22°C to 30°C and excellent air circulation. The culture demands bright, indirect sunlight to stimulate flowering, and it is usually grown in open baskets or on mounts to prevent water accumulation at the base of the stem.

Maintaining plant health involves a balanced fertilization program during the growing season and vigilant monitoring for pests such as scale insects and spider mites. Effective disease management centers on maintaining low humidity around the foliage during cooler nights to prevent bacterial rot and fungal infections, ensuring optimal growth and flower yield.
