Archidendropsis basaltica is a species of woody plant belonging to the family Fabaceae. Often recognized in botanical records by its historical synonym Albizia basaltica, this plant is native to the northern and central parts of Queensland, Australia. It is a hardy species that has evolved to thrive in specialized geological settings, primarily on volcanic basalt-derived soils.
The natural habitat of the species consists of open woodlands and dry eucalyptus forests. These areas are characterized by significant seasonal variations in rainfall, forcing the plant to adapt to prolonged dry seasons. As a member of the Fabaceae family, it has the inherent biological capacity to potentially fix nitrogen, which assists in its survival in nutrient-poor or rocky substrate environments.
