Oriental Woodruff (Asperula orientalis) is a charming annual herbaceous plant belonging to the Rubiaceae family. It is widely recognized in the horticultural world for its delicate foliage and its abundance of small, star-shaped blue to lavender flowers that bloom throughout the warmer months, creating an airy and elegant effect in any garden setting.

The plant originates from the regions of the Caucasus and Asia Minor. Due to its adaptability, it has been introduced into many temperate regions worldwide. In these areas, it is cultivated primarily for its ornamental value in flower beds, borders, and rock gardens, thriving best in locations that provide plenty of sunshine or light afternoon shade.

Botanically, Oriental Woodruff forms compact clusters typically reaching 20 to 30 centimeters in height. Its stems are slender and bear narrow, whorled leaves that create a dense, low-growing mat.
