Frikart's aster

Frikart's aster (Aster frikartii) is a renowned perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Asteraceae family. This hybrid is the result of crossing Aster amellus and Aster thomsonii. It is widely cultivated for its long-blooming season, which provides vibrant color from late summer into early autumn, making it a staple in ornamental agriculture.

The plant originates from European breeding efforts, though its parent species are native to Eurasia. Botanically, it forms bushy, sturdy plants reaching heights of 60 to 90 cm. It is characterized by its branching stems and lance-shaped leaves, which provide a lush backdrop for its iconic daisy-like flowers with blue-violet rays and yellow centers.

Cultivation requires full sun exposure and well-drained, fertile soil with a neutral pH.
