The native range of this plant encompasses the tropical regions of Southeast Asia, specifically Malaysia and Indonesia. In its natural habitat, it thrives in slow-moving streams, marshy areas, and small bodies of water where the substrate is composed of nutrient-rich silt and organic debris.
