Beaumontia jerdoniana

Beaumontia jerdoniana is a spectacular evergreen woody vine belonging to the Apocynaceae family. This species is a robust perennial plant widely recognized for its large, fragrant, trumpet-shaped flowers that resemble lilies, leading to its popular nickname, the "herald's trumpet" or "lily vine" in certain horticultural circles.

The native range of this plant encompasses the tropical forests of Southeast Asia, including parts of India and surrounding regions. In its natural habitat, it thrives in humid subtropical and tropical environments, where it typically scrambles over the canopies of tall trees. In commercial and private cultivation, its range is largely restricted to greenhouses, conservatories, or frost-free climates.

Botanical characteristics of the culture include large, opposite, leathery dark green leaves and massive inflorescences that bloom at the tips of the shoots. The plant exhibits a vigorous growth rate and requires a sturdy vertical support system.
