Tian Shan birch

Tian Shan birch (Betula tianschanica) is a distinct woody species belonging to the Betulaceae family. It is a hardy, medium-sized tree native to the mountain ranges of Central Asia, specifically the Tian Shan and Pamir-Alay systems. This species is highly valued for its ecological role and its ability to thrive in challenging high-altitude environments.

Geographically, the species is concentrated in the mountain belts of the Central Asian region. It typically grows in river valleys and rocky slopes, acting as a pioneer species that stabilizes soil and supports local biodiversity. The tree is well-adapted to environments characterized by significant temperature fluctuations and high UV exposure.
