Calicotome intermedia

Calicotome intermedia is a perennial evergreen spiny shrub belonging to the Fabaceae family. Known for its remarkable resilience, this plant has adapted to survive in harsh Mediterranean climates, forming dense and impenetrable thickets that are vital for local ecological stability.

The native distribution area of this species is concentrated in the western Mediterranean, particularly in Italy and the surrounding islands. It typically thrives on sun-exposed slopes, rocky barrens, and degraded habitats where nutrient availability is limited and environmental stress is high.
