Creeping sedge (lat. Carex repens) is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Cyperaceae family. It is highly regarded in both agricultural and horticultural fields for its ability to form dense, resilient ground covers through an extensive network of creeping rhizomes. This growth habit makes it an ideal candidate for soil stabilization and environmental management projects.
The native range of this species extends across the temperate regions of Eurasia, where it is primarily found in wetlands, riparian zones, and moist meadows. Due to its evolutionary heritage in these habitats, Carex repens exhibits remarkable adaptability to fluctuating water levels, which is a key trait for sustainable land management and phytoremediation efforts.
