Carlowrightia arizonica is a perennial deciduous shrub belonging to the Acanthaceae family. While not a traditional commercial crop, it is highly valued in environmental science and xeriscape landscaping due to its remarkable ability to thrive in arid and semi-arid environments where conventional flora fails to survive.

The plant originates from the Southwestern United States, particularly Arizona, and extends into Northern Mexico. It is an integral component of the desert scrub ecosystem, demonstrating high efficiency in water retention and adaptation to rocky, nutrient-poor substrate typical of its native range.
