The plant originates from the tropical lowland forests of South America, including regions such as Trinidad, Venezuela, Guyana, and parts of Brazil. Thriving in warm, humid coastal climates, it has evolved to colonize tree trunks and branches, utilizing its robust root system to absorb moisture and nutrients directly from the humid forest atmosphere.
Botanically, it is defined by its sympodial growth habit, featuring elongated, spindle-shaped pseudobulbs that can reach significant lengths.
