Choerospondias axillaris, commonly known in its native range as 'Lapsi', is a deciduous tree belonging to the Anacardiaceae family. It is a significant multipurpose species in South and Southeast Asia. The tree can reach significant heights, providing not only edible fruits but also timber and medicinal raw materials, playing a crucial role in local sustainable agroforestry systems.
The species is native to a broad range of regions including Nepal, India, China, and Vietnam. It thrives in subtropical and temperate climates, typically growing at elevations between 300 and 2000 meters.
