The Satinleaf, scientifically known as Chrysophyllum oliviforme, is a notable evergreen species within the Sapotaceae family. This tree is widely recognized for its striking foliage, which features a deep green top side and a distinctive, silky golden-brown underside, earning the plant its common name.

Native to the tropical regions of the Americas, including Florida, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean, this species is well-adapted to coastal habitats. It thrives in environments with high humidity and warm temperatures, reflecting its natural distribution in subtropical and tropical forest edges.

Botanically, the tree can reach heights of up to 10–12 meters, although it is often kept smaller in cultivation. The fruits are small, olive-shaped berries that turn dark purple or nearly black when ripe, containing a sweet, milky pulp that is edible, though primarily harvested for local consumption rather than large-scale commercial trade.
