Rockrose (Latin: Cistus platysepalus) is an evergreen perennial shrub belonging to the Cistaceae family. This species is highly valued for its resilience, aesthetic appearance, and the production of a fragrant resin known as labdanum, which is traditionally harvested for industrial and cosmetic purposes.

The plant is native to the Mediterranean region, where it thrives in rocky, arid landscapes with high sun exposure. Its distribution is closely linked to its ability to survive in nutrient-poor, dry soil conditions.
