Botanically, the plant is characterized by its opposite, oblong-lanceolate leaves and thin, flexible stems. The inflorescences are loose terminal cymes with individual flowers featuring four light blue petals and one violet-blue petal, complemented by long, protruding stamens. Regular pruning is a biological necessity for this plant, as it helps maintain a compact, bushy habit and encourages richer blooms.

The agrotechnical requirements include a well-draining, nutrient-rich potting mix with a slightly acidic to neutral pH. During the growing season, it demands bright, filtered light and high humidity levels. Water management is critical; while the substrate should be kept consistently moist, it must never be waterlogged. During the cooler winter months, the plant benefits from a drier period with reduced irrigation to encourage a healthy dormant phase.
