In its natural habitat, it thrives in moist, shaded forest understories at elevations generally ranging from 1200 to 2200 meters above sea level, where temperatures remain relatively cool and stable.
Botanically, this coffee tree is characterized by its small, slender structure, oval-shaped leaves, and small coffee cherries. Unlike commercial varieties, the beans contain significantly lower levels of caffeine, which contributes to a distinctively sweet, floral, and smooth flavor profile, making it a subject of interest in experimental coffee processing.
