Taro (Colocasia esculenta) is a perennial tropical herb belonging to the Araceae family. Agricultural varieties, including specific hybrids like Colocasia esculenta x Leucocasia gigantea, are essential staple crops. The plant originates from Southeast Asia and India, later spreading across the tropical regions of Africa, the Pacific Islands, and the Americas.
