Persian bladder senna (Colutea persica) is a perennial deciduous shrub belonging to the Fabaceae family. This species is widely recognized for its robust nature and distinctive papery, inflated seed pods that float in the air, a feature that distinguishes it within the genus Colutea.
Native to the arid regions of Western and Central Asia, including parts of Iran and Afghanistan, the plant has evolved to thrive in harsh, semi-desert environments. Its natural habitat includes stony slopes and gravelly plains, where it demonstrates remarkable tolerance to extreme heat and low precipitation levels, making it a valuable asset for sustainable agriculture in arid zones.
Botanically, it possesses pinnate foliage and racemes of bright yellow flowers. Its root system is exceptionally deep and vigorous, allowing it to act as a soil stabilizer on eroded slopes.
