Hawthorn hybrids (Crataegus hybrids) are diverse plant forms belonging to the Rosaceae family. Botanically, they are shrubs or small trees, characterized by their dense branching, potential thorniness, and serrated leaves. The flowers are typically white or pinkish, blooming in spring. The fruit is a pome-like drupe, which serves as a valuable resource for wildlife and human consumption due to its high levels of antioxidants, flavonoids, and essential vitamins.
Successful cultivation requires a sunny location and well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. While naturally hardy, hawthorn hybrids benefit from irrigation during prolonged dry spells.
