Hungarian hawthorn

Hungarian hawthorn (lat. Crataegus nigra) is a perennial deciduous shrub or small tree belonging to the Rosaceae family. It is distinct for its dark, nearly black berries, which serve as a clear identification marker compared to other common species of the genus. This plant is highly valued for both its nutritional properties and its role in ornamental landscaping.

The native range of this species is centered in Southeastern Europe, particularly within Hungary and the Balkan region.
