Long-beaked rattlebox

Crotalaria longirostrata, commonly known as the long-beaked rattlebox, is a fast-growing plant belonging to the Fabaceae family. As an agricultural crop, it is highly valued for its ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen and provide substantial organic matter to tropical farming systems.

Originating from Central and South America, particularly Mexico and Guatemala, this species is well-adapted to tropical climates. Botanically, it is an annual or short-lived perennial shrub reaching up to two meters in height. It features trifoliate leaves and produces bright yellow flowers with a distinct long keel (beak) shape.
