Austrian whitlow-grass (lat. Draba fladnizensis) is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Brassicaceae family. This species is a classic arctic-alpine plant, specifically adapted to survive in extreme, high-altitude or northern environments characterized by long, harsh winters and short, intensive growing seasons.

The native range of this plant encompasses the arctic zones of Eurasia and North America, as well as high-mountain ranges including the Alps and the Carpathians. It typically inhabits rocky slopes, gravel beds, and tundra communities, where it thrives in soil conditions that are inhospitable to most other vascular plants.

Botanically, the plant forms dense tufts or rosettes of basal leaves, which serve as a protective structure against wind and cold. The stems are typically simple and topped with small, white, four-petaled flowers characteristic of the mustard family.
