The species originates from the mountainous regions of the Caucasus. Its natural habitat includes rocky slopes and subalpine zones, where it has evolved to thrive under harsh conditions characterized by short growing seasons and significant temperature fluctuations.

Botanically, the plant is distinguished by its basal rosette of leaves and elongated, narrow pods. The root system is deep and taproot-like, allowing it to anchor securely in rocky substrates. These features make it highly resilient to physical stress and nutrient-poor soil conditions.

Pests such as crucifer flea beetles are the most frequent threat, especially during the early developmental stages, necessitating careful site selection and monitoring to maintain plant health.
