It is a natural hybrid resulting from the cross between Drosera rotundifolia and Drosera anglica. The natural range of this species is found in temperate regions across the Northern Hemisphere, where the parent species coexist in peat bogs and wetland habitats. For successful cultivation, the plant requires specific environmental conditions that mirror its natural bog ecosystem. It is highly specialized to survive in nutrient-poor substrates by trapping insects to supplement its nitrogen intake.

Botanically, the plant features a basal rosette of leaves, with a shape ranging from obovate to elongated. The foliage is covered in sticky, glandular hairs that produce a mucilaginous substance. This adaptation serves as a highly efficient trap for small insects, which are then digested by enzymes secreted by the plant’s glands, providing essential nutrients that are missing from its acidic substrate.

Irrigation must be performed using distilled, rainwater, or reverse-osmosis water to prevent mineral buildup, which is toxic to the roots.
