Suendermann's avens

Suendermann's avens (Dryas suendermannii) is a hardy, evergreen perennial subshrub belonging to the Rosaceae family. It is a garden hybrid prized for its vigorous, mat-forming growth habit and long-lasting seasonal beauty. As a low-growing plant, it effectively covers soil, making it a favorite choice for rock gardens and naturalistic plantings.

The plant originates from cross-breeding alpine species adapted to the harsh climates of mountainous regions in Europe and North America. Its evolutionary history in rocky, nutrient-poor environments makes it an exceptionally durable choice for gardeners looking for low-maintenance vegetation. It thrives best in cooler climates where the temperature does not fluctuate excessively.
