Dymondia margaretae is a low-growing, perennial groundcover plant belonging to the Asteraceae family. It is widely recognized for its ability to form a dense, mat-like carpet, which makes it a highly desirable candidate for modern, water-efficient landscape designs and as a sustainable alternative to traditional grass lawns.

Native to the coastal areas of the Western Cape in South Africa, this species has evolved in sandy, saline, and often harsh environments.
