Plantain-leaved sea holly (Eryngium plantagineum) is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Apiaceae family. Unlike many other species in the genus known for their sharp, prickly foliage, this plant is characterized by relatively smooth, lanceolate leaves, which provide a distinct aesthetic appeal to the plant.

Originating from South America, particularly regions of Brazil and Argentina, this species has adapted to grassland and meadow habitats. It is well-suited to regions with warm climates and is known for its resilience in environments that experience periodic dry spells, reflecting its evolutionary background.
