The species originates from Western and Central Africa, where it thrives in savannah ecosystems and rocky terrains. Its native distribution is strictly limited to warm regions, as the plant lacks any tolerance for frost or prolonged cold weather conditions.
Botanically, Euphorbia venefica presents segmented, often spiny stems that act as the primary photosynthetic organs. It produces small, inconspicuous flowers typical of the Euphorbia genus.
