Regarding soil requirements and agronomic practices, Ferula moschata prefers loose, well-drained soils, such as sandy or rocky loams with a neutral pH. It is highly intolerant of waterlogging, which often causes root rot. Irrigation should be managed carefully, especially during the seedling stage, to prevent moisture stress while encouraging deep root penetration.
Commercial utilization involves the extraction of resinous sap and essential oils. The main challenges for growers include common umbelliferous pests, such as aphids and leaf miners, as well as fungal pathogens like root rot.
