The origin of Festuca laxa is primarily associated with the mountain ranges of Europe. Its natural range extends across high-altitude meadows, where it has evolved to withstand low temperatures, thin soils, and varying moisture levels. These ecological origins define its hardiness and suitability for grazing systems in mountainous terrain.
