The plant originates from the mountainous regions of Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Botanically, Streptosolen is characterized by slender, sprawling stems and oval, vibrant green leaves with prominent veining. Its main horticultural value lies in its tubular flowers arranged in corymbose clusters. A unique biological feature is the color transition of the blossoms: as the flowers mature, their color shifts from bright yellow to deep orange or reddish-orange, providing a striking multi-colored display on a single plant.
Successful cultivation requires specific attention to environmental conditions. The plant prefers bright, indirect light and must be protected from harsh midday sun. The growing medium should be fertile, light, and well-drained. During the active growing season, consistent moisture is necessary, but waterlogging must be strictly avoided, as the root system is highly sensitive to excess soil moisture.
